ABOUT SAHASRARA

Sahasrara or the Crown Chakra is the highest of the Seven Primary Chakras, situated at the top of the head. This chakra, symbolised by a thousand-petaled lotus, represents pure consciousness and serves as a gateway for the soul to commune with cosmic consciousness.

Sahasrara is the point where the soul dissolves ego consciousness and unites with Cosmic Consciousness. Achieving this union leads to Self-Realization or God-Realization, liberating us from all Karmas and the cycle of rebirth, known as Moksha.

When Sahasrara is fully opened or awakened, it connects us to the highest level of divine awareness. Sahasrara is represented by violet colour, symbolising purity, spirituality, & enlightenment. The associated mantra, ‘Aum’ or ‘Sound of the universe’, can only be heard when the mind is completely still.
Chakras, representing seven cerebrospinal centres of life and consciousness, reside in the spine and brain, animating both the physical and astral bodies. It is referred as Chakras (Wheels) because the concentrated energy in each one is like a hub from which radiate rays of life-giving light and energy.

Descending from the top of the head to the base of the spine, the chakras are named as:

SAHASRARA

(in the uppermost part of the cerebrum)

AGYA OR AJNA

(located between the eyebrows)

VISHUDDHA

(the cervical, at the base of the neck)

ANAHATA

(the dorsal, opposite the heart)

MANIPURA

(the lumbar, opposite the navel)

SWADHISTHANA

(the sacral, two inches above muladhara)

MULADHARA

(the coccygeal, at the base of the spine)

These centres act as spiritual gateways, facilitating the soul's descent into the body and ascent from it by the process of Meditation.

When Sahasrara is fully opened or awakened, it connects us to the highest level of divine awareness. It is represented by violet colour, symbolising purity, spirituality, & enlightenment. The associated mantra, ‘Aum’ or ‘Sound of the universe’, can only be heard when the mind is completely still.

Meditation facilitates the soul’s progress toward Cosmic Consciousness, traversing the ‘awakened’ or ‘opened’ Chakras. This conscious journey leads the soul to reunite with the Infinite, ultimately merging with Cosmic Consciousness or God.
